Frequently Asked Questions

There are four steps, spread over a few weeks. We begin with a Discovery Call, a short conversation about your family and what you would like to make together. Once you have reserved your session, we meet for a Portrait Consultation to talk through your home, the walls you have in mind, and what everyone will wear. Then comes the session itself. One to two weeks later you return for your viewing appointment, where you see your portraits for the first time and choose the pieces you would like to keep. Your artwork is then made, framed and delivered ready to hang.

How does the process work?

Simply book a complementary and no-obligation Discovery Call using the contact form. As we’re not a typical family photographer, this is allows us to get to know a little about each other and decide whether it is the right fit for both of us.

How do I book with you?

How much does the portrait experience cost?

The Creative Commission Fee is CHF 495. It covers your entire Portrait Experience which includes the portrait consultation, wardrobe guidance, the session, full hair and make up for mums, the editing and retouching of your portraits, and your private viewing appointment. Artwork is chosen separately at the viewing, so the Creative Commission Fee stays the same whichever artwork you decide on. The Creative Commission Fee begins your portrait experience, reserves your date, and is non-refundable.

Is any artwork included in the portrait experience, and how much does the artwork cost?

Artwork is purchased separately and each type of artwork is priced differently. Wall art starts at CHF 1000. The amount each client spends on the artwork is completely dependent on what they love, though the average client spends in the range of CHF 1,500 - 3,500 including the Creative Commission Fee. For orders over CHF 2,000, we offer flexible payment plans.

What (and how much your purchase) is entirely your choice. We don’t sell hard and you only purchase what you love.

Do we need to go through all parts of the experience? Or can we skip some parts?

The Portrait Experience is designed to make sure we create beautiful portraits of your family for your home that will ultimately become heirloom pieces. Every aspect of the experience builds towards this goal. Therefore, skipping certain aspects of the experience is not recommended. Note that skipping certain parts of the experience does not change the Creative Commission Fee.

Digital files are not sold on their own. The studio exists to make portraits that are printed and lived with. Digital files, however good, tend to stay on a laptop. Every portrait you choose as artwork comes with its high-resolution digital file (in both colour and black and white), so you will still have those images to share with family abroad and as digital backups.

Can we just have the digital files?

We plan your wardrobe together at the Portrait Consultation. You also get our style guide making sure you’re well prepared. We can continue to refine your outfits leading up to the session.

If you would like more help with your outfits, I can introduce you to a professional stylist I work with in Basel. Wardrobe consultations with the stylist can be purchased with the stylist directly as an add-on.

What should we wear?

Absolutely. All of the images that we present at your Viewing & Ordering appointment are hand-edited. This is included in your portrait experience. Our editing style is gentle and true-to-life as we want to make sure these portraits still look like you.
